questions. We are very excited in helping you find a nanny position. Being a
nanny can be a very rewarding experience for those who really love children! When
we receive your completed application, we will give you a call and let you know
we have received your information.
Remember, you are under no obligation to take any job you do not feel comfortable
in taking. Talk to as many Hiring Couples as it takes in making a decision that
is best for you. We will do a contract to cover you and you will have in writing
a copy of your job duties, hours, salary, vacation, living accommodations, car
usage, etc. There is no charge to you for our service.
Please help us by keeping in contact with us while we are finding the position
best for you. We encourage you to keep in contact with us even after obtaining a
position. We are here for you the entire length of your contract, and as long as
you decide to stay. We LOVE to hear from our nannies.
It is very important to let us know if you hear from any of our Hiring Couples.
Call us after each conversation you have with each Hiring Couple until you are hired.
The following is a checklist in getting back to Helpers West in what is needed
when sending your information back:
Two pictures sent in the mail (Name on back and approx. date taken) You may
e-mail your application and other information if you would like, but you MUST
An essay (from questions on page 3 of application) about family life and
child care experience.
Letters of recommendation are very helpful, but not required
Copy of valid drivers license
Copy of a driving record from your local driver's license bureau. (Save your
receipt and we will reimburse you if you obtain employment from Helpers West.)
Copy of official criminal record. (Obtain from local police dept., State Dept.,
or Public Safety-Bureau of Criminal Identification. If you need help on this
please let us know and we can help you. Again save the receipt and we will
reimburse you. We can also obtain this information for you.)
Questions To Ask Before Accepting A Position:
What will my specific responsibilities be?
What will my salary be? When will I be paid?
After taxes what will my weekly pay be?
What are my hours?
What days will I have off?
Will I be paid for holidays? Which ones?
Will I have a paid vacation?
Will my airfare be paid to their location and home?
Will I be covered by medical insurance?
How much housekeeping will I be expected to do?
What specifically is meant by light housekeeping?
What laundry will I have to do?
What meals will I be expected to prepare?
Who will do the grocery shopping?
Will I have access to a car? May I use it on my days off?
Who will pay for gas?
Will I be insured while driving the car?
May I take the children in the car with me?
Is the car a standard or automatic?
Do both parents work?
Will I be asked to run errands?
Will there be a back up baby sitter?
Will I have my own room and bathroom?
Will I have access to a TV and telephone?
When the family goes on vacation will I be allowed to go as well and what expenses will I have to pay?
If we are on vacation, will I have time for myself?
Are there any pets? Who will care for them?
May I have friends over? Any restrictions on friends?
Will I be able to attend my church meetings?
What house rules or curfews do the Hiring Couple have?
What would a normal day be like?
Are your (meaning the nanny) interests the same or similar to the families?
Will I be treated as a family member or differently?
When the family goes out to activities will I invited to go?
Is there a written and signed contract?
If either of us wants to terminate the contract what happens?
